3 easy steps to install Smarturns

No electrician, plumber or tools are required. No need to change your cooking habits or learn anything complicated.

  • Knob_Installation smarturns

    1) Replace the knobs

    Remove your existing stove knobs and replace them with Smarturns smart knobs. Smarturns fit most gas & electric stoves.

  • Sensor_install smarturns

    2) Place the motion sensor

    Mount the self adhesive motion sensor near the stove. It detects activity in the kitchen and requires no cables.

    3) Connect the hub

    Connect the hub to power. The hub will alert the user if the stove is left on unattended for 5 minutes (adjustable). When connected to the Smarturns App, alerts can also be sent to family and carers.

Smarturns™, is the world's first product that transforms your stove to a smart stove in minutes. In addition to making cooking safer, Smarturns™ provides:

  • Alerts when you or your loved ones forget that the stove is on.
  • Peace of mind for caregivers.

  • Historical tracking of cooking activities in the home via the free app.

Installation is easy and will typically take 10-20 minutes.

Smarturns does not require an internet connection to operate. However, if connected to the internet, alerts can also be sent to family and carers.

There are no subscription costs or ongoing fees.

Knob Types

There are two knob types to suit different stove designs:

  • Horizontal: Where the knobs are facing the ceiling.
  • Vertical: Where the knobs are facing the user.

Please note: Smarturns does not shut off the stove automatically. It simply alerts the user and family if the stove is on and unattended, so that appropriate action can be taken.

How it works

There are 3 key components to Smarturns.

  1. Smarturns Knobs (4pcs)
  2. Motion sensor
  3. Hub

How it works:

  • When the stove is on, the Smarturn knobs notify the hub.
  • The motion sensor detects if the stove has been left unattended.
  • If the stove isn’t attended to within the preset time, the Smarturns Hub sounds an alert for the user in the home.
  • Additionally, if Smarturns has been connected to a carers mobile phone, an alert is also sent to the mobile phone so the appropriate action can be taken.

FAQ

How do I know if Smarturns is compatible with my stove?

Smarturns will work on most gas or electric stoves that are operated using knobs. It is not compatible with cooktops that use touch controls.

If in the unlikely situation, it is not compatible with your stove, you can return Smarturns for a full refund.

How do I know if i need Vertical or Horizontal knobs?

There are two types of Smarturns knobs types to suit different stove designs:

  • Horizontal: Choose these if the existing knobs on your stove are facing up, towards the ceiling.
  • Vertical: Choose these if the existing knobs on your stove are facing towards you (including if they are slightly angled up).

If you are unsure, simply send a picture of your stove to support@homelife.technology and we can advise you.

Do I need to have internet access and a mobile phone to use Smarturns?

No. You don’t need the internet or a mobile phone to use Smarturns.

Without the internet, the Hub will work as an automatic, local alarm, alerting the stove user when they are away from the stove for 5 minutes. This default time can be adjusted by contacting our support team at support@homelife.technology .

However, without internet access and a mobile phone family and carers will not be able to receive alerts regarding stove activity remotely.

Can I use the Smarturns App to turn my stove Off or On?

No. You will not be able to control your stove from the Smarturns App. The Smarturns app will alert you if the stove has been inadvertently left on. You can then take the necessary action to contact the user to turn the stove off.

Does Smarturns change the way I use my stove?

No. You continue to use your stove the same way as you always would. Smarturns is simply a safety alert if the stove is accidentally left on.

What happens if the Internet connection is lost?

If the internet connection is lost, the Smarturns knobs and local hub alarm will continue to work and local alerts will sound if the stove is left on unattended. There is NO impact to the use of stove.

However, while the internet connection is lost, notification messages will NOT be sent to mobile phones.

Can I monitor multiple Smarturns kits/ locations on my mobile phone app?

Yes, we support multiple Smarturns locations on the mobile phone app. You can log in the app on your mobile phone and add the second Smarturns to your account

How long do the batteries in the Smarturn knobs and motion sensor last?

The Smarturns Knobs are powered by a CR2032 coin battery. With our extremely low power wireless protocol (patent pending technology), the battery in the Smarturn knobs can last for about 4 years under common usage. The motion sensor is powered by AAA batteries which we recommend changing every 6 months. Please watch the video How to change battery of TochSmarturns Knobs.

What if I have more than 4 knobs on my stove?

Each kit comes with 4 knobs. We can add additional knobs to any purchase. Please contact support@homelife.technology to purchase additional Smarturn knobs.
